East Renfrewshire Provost Mary Montague opened an inspiring arts exhibition at Eastwood Park Theatre on 3 July 2025. The exhibition is a celebration of the world around us created by local people with additional needs and runs for three weeks at Eastwood Park Theatre. Over 70 guests attended the opening and some of the artists spoke about the inspiration behind their art.

Provost Mary Montague said.

I am really delighted to open this special exhibition of vibrant artwork which really celebrates success, positivity and potential. Cosgrove Care has been delivering high quality care and support in our community for 65 years and the exhibition gives inspiration to us all and reminds us of the potential of every member of our community.

Over 23 artists are exhibiting their artwork which has been created with the support of Arts Facilitator Susan Kennedy. Susan has worked as an arts facilitator with Cosgrove Care for over 15 years and has worked with some supported people to deliver a master class to help develop skills and techniques to another level.

Artist, Lauren Gillen said,

Susan has really helped me become a better artist, I am really proud of my artwork and I am more confident in expressing myself.’

Cosgrove Care delivers a range of supports and services but places a strong emphasis on the arts as a means to supporting people to thrive and achieve. Heather Gray, CEO said

At Cosgrove Care we believe the arts are very important to helping people we support achieve their potential. We can see a range of benefits from our art sessions, improved communication, improved self-esteem and giving people ways to express themselves. We can see the journey many of our artists have been on- their families are often overwhelmed when they see the incredible work they have produced. We are delighted to have secured funding to develop our work with adults with additional needs across East Renfrewshire and Glasgow. Art has a very positive impact on the lives of people we work with, we see skills, confidence and potential grow.’

Dr Donny Lyons, Co-Chair of Cosgrove Care said,

It was a privilege to be at the opening of another Cosgrove Care art exhibition. Our artists all have disabilities yet manage to produce outstanding artwork. It is important that they are able to show off their creative skills. And it is just as important that all of us share and celebrate the joy of their amazing talents.

The art exhibition will be open until 20 July 2025 at Eastwood Park Theatre, Giffnock. Cosgrove Care have also produced merchandise featuring some of the unique designs produced by our artists. You can find out more by visiting our website or contacting us at care@cosgrovecare.org.uk
