Fundraising: An Incredible Afternoon of Jazz – with the Award Winning Rose Room!

Cosgrove Care raised an incredible £2600 at their recent Jazz Afternoon Tea at Loks in Shawlands on Sunday 19th June with over 130 guests attending for an afternoon of great food and music!

Double Scottish Jazz Award -winning band Rose Room, one of Scotland’s leading jazz ensembles provided the entertainment. The band is led by virtuoso violinist, vocalist and BBC broadcaster Seonaid Aitken, the band also features Scotland’s number 1 guitar maker Jimmy Moon on double base with Tam Gallacher on rhythm guitarist Conor Smith on solo guitar. The band played a selection of music including the sounds of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli.

Afternoon Tea was served, and many danced the afternoon away. This is the second year that Cosgrove Care have held their afternoon of Jazz with the event being sponsored this year by David Barnett of RBR and Inverarity Morton.

It was great to see friends, jazz fans and people we support really enjoy the afternoon. The Jazz Afternoon is a great way for Cosgrove Care to raise funds, raise awareness of what we do and bring people together. We are delighted to have raised so much money and we are very grateful to our sponsors.

Many of the Cosgrove Care volunteers helped with the event and we were very lucky to have the support of Richard Kaye who captured the event through a series of photographs.

There has never been a more important time for Cosgrove Care to raise funds to deliver vital supports and services to some of the most vulnerable children, adults and older adults in our communities. There is an increase in the numbers of young people with a dual diagnosis of learning disability and autism and our support helps people thrive, achieve and connect. Cosgrove plays a vital role campaigning for equal rights for disabled people and provides vital community supports.

The event would not have been possible without Sharon Kaye, Finance and Fundraising Officer and Pinky Monaghan, Fundraising Officer from Cosgrove Care who worked exceptionally hard to organize the event.

We were also very grateful to Andrea Fox- Cosgrove Coffee and Wellness Club co-ordinator for arranging the beautiful table decorations.
