1960: Early Days
Cosgrove has been supporting and breaking down barriers for people with additional needs in Glasgow South Side since the 1960’s when it became registered as a charitable organisation. 1963-1964: St. John's Day Centre
In 1963, a 15 room house at 6 St. John’s Road, Pollokshields, was purchased as a Day Centre which was equipped with a fully kosher kitchen. It was declared officially open by the honorary president, Mr. Isidore Walton in 1964. St. Johns building. Sourced in The Scottish Jewish Archives Centre.
1972-1974: Residential Care
On the 8th December, the home became fully residential with fully trained staff.

1995: New Independent Living Unit
The independent living unit was officially opened by David and Carole Walton. 1996: Housing and Play
First house purchased for use as an independent living unit for men and Children’s Play Scheme began.
2000: A New Name
The Jewish Association for the Mentally Handicapped was renamed Cosgrove Care with a subheading “Caring for people with learning disabilities in the Jewish Community”.
2001: Maccabi Complex
St. Johns Road was sold and moved into a purpose built unit within the Maccabi complex, Giffnock, with kosher facilities.
