Cosgrove’s Annual Sporting Dinner raised £23k!

Posted on November 12, 2018

Cosgrove Care held its 4th annual Sporting Dinner at Glasgow Grosvenor on 25 October 2018. We were very grateful to receive sponsorship from Slaters, Skedulo and Emcare for the event.

The event was hosted by John Beattie, Scottish Broadcaster and former rugby union player. Guests speakers were Judy Murray, Scottish tennis coach and mother of the professional tennis players Andy and Jamie Murray and Jamie Andrew, Scottish mountaineer.

Cormac O’Hara, a 17 years old young person who has autism and epilepsy also spoke movingly about how Cosgrove supports him and about his success in being accepted onto the GB Paralympic Pathway. Cormac was announced as Cosgrove’s first Young Ambassador as part of our celebrations for Year of the Young Person in Scotland. Cormac’s mum, Yvonne also spoke eloquently about her son’s journey and the help received from Cosgrove.

We were joined by over 200 guests including Cosgrove’s Patrons David and Carole Walton, Honorary President John Dover and his wife Suzie and Chair Colin Black and his wife Veronica who all had a great evening. Viv Lumsden, Scottish Broadcaster also joined us with John Dalby, Board member. The evening was rounded off with a comedy slot with Bruce Fummey. We’d like to thank everyone who supported the event through donating auction and raffle prizes and through coming on the evening.

Heather Gray, Cosgrove CEO said ’We are so grateful to everyone who came along and supported the event. There has never been a more important time for charities to be delivering essential services to vulnerable people in our communities. Cosgrove’s staff and volunteers have work tirelessly for nearly 6 decades to make a difference in people’s lives. We simply could not to this without the generous support of donors and supporters’.

Thanks to Paul Shafar for his support in coordinating the event, to Sharon Kaye for her work on the evening and to Richard Kaye for his amazing photographs of the event.
