Cosgrove is delighted to announce a new addition to their Board of Directors, with the appointment of Rt Honourable Jim Murphy this month (June 2020).
Cosgrove is a Glasgow based registered charity and company limited by guarantee established in Glasgow in 1960. This year sees the organisation celebrate its 60th anniversary of delivering care and support to children and adults with a range of complex needs across west central Scotland.
Cosgrove’s Board is at the heart of the organisation’s decision-making processes, and drive Cosgrove’s commitment to helping people of all ages and abilities to live full and independent lives, and providing support to the most vulnerable people in our community.
Jim is a former politician who was a Member of Parliament for East Renfrewshire, from 1997 to 2015 and Secretary of State for Scotland from 2008 to 2010. He has been involved with Cosgrove’s Emergency response activities, volunteering to deliver food parcels and providing shopping assistance to those currently shielding during the Covid-19 pandemic. He has also recently visited several sites where Cosgrove provide ongoing support in East Renfrewshire.
Announcing Jim’s appointment, Cosgrove’s CEO, Heather Gray said, “We are delighted that Jim is joining our Board of Directors during this landmark year for the organisation. Jim’s skills and expertise will benefit the organisation greatly as we transform our services post COVID-19. There has never been a more important time for charities to step up to the needs of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
