Cosgrove support many people who are on the autistic spectrum. Through many years of learning we have grown to be recognised providers of working with people who have autism. We provide person centred plans, depicting the individual needs of all who we support, tailor making support packages to best enhance the lives of every individual.
A resource space has been adapted for multi purpose use, offering people with sensory needs an environment in which they feel comfortable. We have a sensory room, quiet room for quiet time, and a large area for movement, dance and many other activities.
In 2008 Cosgrove achieved Autism Accreditation from the National Autistic Society. The programme provides an autism specific quality assurance for Cosgrove, by providing a unified standard of excellence and a systematic framework for continuous self-examination and development. This engages Cosgrove in a process whereby we are continuously improving the quality of service provision for all the people we support with autism and aspergers syndrome.
Cosgrove has links with other accredited Autism practioners. We liaise with the Autism Research Centre who also provide us with guidance, advice and training.
We also have an external consultant, Michael McCreadie, who works with us in an advisory capacity. He is renowned in the field of autism and spoken internationally on this subject.
